Man’s Body Found By Real Estate Agent

Man’s Body Found In KCK Home For Sale

TheKansasCityChannel.com – News – Man’s Body Found In KCK Home For Sale

While showing a house,a real estate agent found a dead body. The male’s body has not been identified yet but the officials are working on it. The real estate agent and the prospective buyers thought the man was asleep but he failed to wake up when they tried to wake him, so they called 911. Investigators say the man may have died due to a drug overdose, they do not believe that it was a homicide.

If I was the realtor that found this man’s body, I honestly don’t know what I would do because I would be so creeped out by this. A neighbor had said that the house had been vacant for about 3 yearsor so, which I find really creepy that there is kind of a random dead person in the back room. Yeah just a little creepy.

Hunger As Ideology

In Hunger As Ideology, Susan Bordo writes about women’s obsession with the control of their weight. If you can control your desire than you can have a good control over your weight so you are that “just right” kind of slim. Women today feel they have to be thin in order to do or get anything. They want to be able to attract men and get other women jealous because they lok that damn good. As a woman, I feel I can say that I think we are disgusting in the way that most of us not all feel we have to be thin or we will be ostricized from society. The media doesn’t help us at all with feeling good about ourselves. They make us want to be their  skinny. While we are busy making fun of them because they are anorexic, we are doing the exact same thing because our culture is one of hypocracy and that’s just how we are. We have to make fun of someone else just to make ourselves feel somewhat good. Disgusting.

Genes May Play Role In Who Gets Bird Flu

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15530506/

Scientist think that genetic disposition may help to determine if you can contract the bird flu. Evidence form last May, in North Sumatra, Indonesia showed that genetic factors may possibly have made the affected family more susceptible tothe H5N1 virus. And only this family’s blood relatives were infected in the Karo region of North Sumatra.

‘“A genetic predisposition for infection is suspected based on data from rare instances of human-to-human transmission in genetically-related persons,’ the WHO said.”

‘“This possibility, if more fully explored, might help explain why human cases are comparatively rare and why the virus is not spreading easily from animals to humans or from human to human,’ it added.”

Normally the bird flu only affects animals but it is known that it has infected 256 humans since late 2003 killing about 152 of those infected. Scientist are afraid that the virus will mutate and become the next essential  “black plague”.  The main carriers of the disease are mallard ducks. To further the studies of the disease, scientist have to take samples from the pharnyx as well as from the ducks feces.

Class Identity…Julie Lindquist

The fact that Julie decides to do this research is wellI find it a little strange, but I think she has a point. Why is it that people feel somewhat compelled to go to a bar after work? Why is it that they don’t just go home right away? Jack seems to have a lot of stress built up from his job and that’s what Julie seems most interested in recording. It is also recognized that Jack has a lot of problems with the way the governement is and how the “country needs JOBS!” I agree with him in this case because I know I have heard my own father complain about that. It isn’t fair for the hard working person to have to end up paying for the taxes to pay for the people who don’t have jobs. America has a few problems we obviously need to start adressing.

Richard Rodriguez

I can relate to this piece because during primay school all the way up to the end of middle school, I was made fun of. The roles, however, are switched; he likes school more and I like my home life more. I wasn’t taunted at home. I found I could only be myself at home  and with my one true friend, Michelle. In school Iwas teased because I wore glasses and had braces. People called me names constantly and it was so depressing. I was called train tracks and four eyes and sometimes I got the occasional Window Face.

After 12:3o at  my school  it was considered a full day so I tried every day to go home after that because I coulnd’t handle all of the teasing.

Once I got my braces taken off and got contacts though, everyone started being nice to me and saying they were sorry for always teasing me. It’s a shame that people have to lower themselves to making fun of others just to feel good about themselves.

Scientist’s use Grammar Rule to help destroy bacteria

Scientists use grammar rules to slay killer germs

Scientists use grammar rules to slay killer germs  – CNN.com

Scientists found that antimicrobial peptides, a type of bacteria fighter found in nature, seems to follow rules of order and placement similar to grammar laws. With this new found technology scientists have somewhat found a way to jump a few feet ahead of evolving microbes. By have the rules of grammar be their guide, it is simple for scientist to follow the evolving microbes’ patterns. They found that the amino acids that make the peptides form a “sentence” with the string of letters.

I found this article really interesting because I never  would have thought there would be a way to tie my one maijor English into my other major Biology. I found this really amazing that this is happening ant that scientists actually first started to do this about 19 years ago.

Freewrite – Theme Song

If you had a theme song, what would it be and why?

I took a test once on emode.com which is just like a website with a bunch of you-have-way-too-much-free-time tests, and it was for my theme song. At the end of the test, I was told that my theme song was Walkin’ On Sunshine. I really don’t know why, because I’m not always the happiest person in the world, but I am normally ALWAYS smiling. It’s weird. I think, though, that the song kind of calls me nieve. The title makes it sound like someone is oblivious to things. I’m not like that or at least, I like to think I’m not like that.  The song is mostly about how the singer used to think that maybe someone loved her, She learns by the second bridge that this someone does. I can relate to this because I think people love me, and then it turns out that they do, but I only see it after something is done.  The title means that the preson is walkin on sunshine because they are loved and love someone in return. I feel loved by my family and friends and in return I love them back.

I used to think maybe you loved me now I know that it’s true,
And I don’t want to spend my whole life just a waitin’ for you.
Now I don’t want you back for the weekend, not back for a day,
Oh no now,
Said baby I just want you back and I want you to stay, oh yeah now.

I’m walkin’ on sunshine…whoa,
I’m walkin’ on sunshine…whoa,
I’m walkin’ on sunshine…whoa, and it’s time to feel good!
All right now, it’s time to feel good…hey, oh yeah now.
And it’s time to feel good!

Too bad it’s raining outside!!

Ethics of Reproductive Technology

Ethics of Reproductive Technology

What are the ethics of genetic screening? And how would testing affect your pregnancy choices? Table Talkers sound off. The fact that we can know choose whether we want an intelligent child or a healthy child, portrays a very controversial issue.

Brothers and Keepers

I’m not going to lie, but when I first received the packet I really didn’t want to read it because it was so insanely long.  The I read it and it wasn’t that bad. My friend, Tim is a lot like Robbie. He’s not bad he just does stupid things. I liked that this excerpt was different from the other ones. It didn’t have to deal with being in jail or on death row, rather it was how he got there. Much like What I Want My Words To Do To You, it explained in the jail how they got there and what they are feeling and were feeling.
